Morning Morsels 068: Repayment

Reaping what we sow is in keeping with the system of spiritual algorithms Yah has in place.

Shalom, and happy morning to you. The things we do in this life come with rewards or ill consequences. If we do good, good things follow us or result from our actions. And if we do bad, bad will follow or result. The world boils this down to something called “Karma,” but that is a Buddhist practice and belief that stems from a Sanskrit word to which they have tied false notions of reincarnation. Since we do not practice paganism, we hold to what Scripture says of this reward and consequence dynamic:

⁸ As I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble reap the same.

—Job 4:8

⁷ For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind. . . .

—Hosea 8:7

⁸ Whoever sows injustice will reap calamity, and the rod of his fury will fail.

—Proverbs 22:8

This is all in keeping with the system of spiritual algorithms Yah has in place, which are automatically triggered by our actions. And these rewards and consequences won’t play out in a different life or be unspooled at some time far in the prophetic future. No, they are paid in your present life, in quite a timely fashion. I have personally witnessed the blessings and rewards that have filled the lives of those who have put forth many good deeds, being selfless and truly neighborly. And, as it is written:

³¹ If the righteous is repaid on earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner!

—Proverbs 11:31
